Voice Thread and the Flipped Classroom Model
Voice Thread is a free software that allows teachers and students to interact and learn from each other. The benefit to using this software is huge because it allows for voice commenting, video commenting and type commenting to projects. There are tons of different ways to use this technology. Teachers can lecture via distance education and teach concepts and kids who miss school because of sports and other after school activities can stay connected to what is happening in the classroom. During the ED230 class my group worked on the concept of the Flipped Classroom using Voice Thread. Voice Thread allowed us to work together to collaborate ideas and show how the Flipped Classroom model works. We also gained helpful insights from our classmates once we shared the link. The comments that our peers left helped us recognize the strengths to using the Flipped Classroom model while also showing potential weak spots. Here is our presentation on the Flipped Classroom. It shows what the Flipped Classroom model is in a nutshell. Below is a picture that I took of a student while we were hiking near Hatchers Pass, Alaska. He is attempting a flip!
